Privacy policy

Last updated: 2026-05-03. This is a starter draft; we'll keep it current as the product evolves.

Cinelore is a one-person software company run by Dylan Sullivan in Seattle, WA. This page explains what data we collect, what we don't, who we share it with, and how to exercise your rights over it.

What we collect

  • Email address, when you join the waitlist, contact us, or buy a product. Stored in Kit (newsletter) and/or Lemon Squeezy (orders).
  • Order information — name, billing details, IP address — when you purchase. Lemon Squeezy is our merchant of record and handles this directly. We see only the parts of an order Lemon Squeezy exposes to merchants (your name, email, country, the product you bought).
  • License-key activation events — when your copy of a Cinelore plugin checks in, we log the activation timestamp, machine name (a value derived from your computer's hostname), and the license key. These events live in Lemon Squeezy's licensing system.
  • Voluntary bug reports — when you click the warning icon (⚠) inside a plugin and submit a diagnostic report. Reports include plugin version, OS, project counters (clips loaded, cards selected, etc.), and the last ~200 console messages from the plugin. Reports are designed to never include footage, transcripts, clip names, or file paths; we audit this regularly. Submissions go to a Google Form and arrive in our inbox.
  • Standard web server logs — when you visit cinelore.app, our host (Bluehost) logs your IP, the URL you requested, and the time. No cookies are set by Cinelore itself.

What we don't collect

  • Your footage. Video files never leave your drive. We have no upload server.
  • Your transcripts. Transcript content is processed locally on your machine.
  • Your AI prompts or responses. When you use the plugin's AI features, prompts go directly from your machine to whichever AI provider you've configured (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, or a local Ollama instance). We don't proxy, sit in the middle, or keep copies. Cinelore is not a processor of your AI content.
  • Your project files, clip names, or file paths.
  • Analytics. We don't run Google Analytics, Plausible, PostHog, or any other tracker on cinelore.app at this writing. (If we add one later, this section is the first thing we'll update, and we'll disclose it before turning it on.)

Third-party processors

The following companies help us run Cinelore. Each has its own privacy policy, linked below.

  • Lemon Squeezy — payment processor and merchant of record for digital sales, plus license-key issuance. Their privacy policy.
  • Kit (formerly ConvertKit) — email list and waitlist forms. Their privacy policy.
  • Bluehost — web hosting for cinelore.app and standard server logs. Their privacy policy.
  • Google Forms — receives bug reports submitted via the in-plugin warning icon. Google's privacy policy.
  • Your chosen AI provider — when you use Cinelore's AI features, your data goes directly to whichever provider you configure (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or your own Ollama instance). Your relationship is with that provider, not with Cinelore. We strongly recommend reading their privacy policies before connecting them.

How long we keep your data

  • Email — until you unsubscribe, then we delete you from active lists. Suppression lists may retain a hash of your email to honor unsubscribes.
  • Order records — kept for 7 years to comply with US tax law.
  • Bug reports — kept indefinitely in our Google Forms responses, but you can request deletion at any time (see below).
  • Server logs — 30 days, per our host's default retention.

Your rights

If you live in the EU, UK, California, or any jurisdiction with similar privacy laws, you have the right to:

  • Know what data we have about you.
  • Get a copy of your data.
  • Correct it if it's wrong.
  • Delete it.
  • Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent.
  • Object to direct marketing.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Email privacy@cinelore.app for any of the above. We aim to respond within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Cinelore's products and site aren't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have, email privacy@cinelore.app and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy in a way that meaningfully affects you (e.g., adding analytics, adding a new third-party processor that handles your data), we'll update the "last updated" date and email anyone on the waitlist or with an active license. Smaller wording fixes are applied silently and noted in our site repository's commit history.
