What you'll need

  • A Mac — macOS 13 or newer, Apple Silicon or Intel. Verbatim is macOS-only for now.
  • Premiere Pro 25.1+ (Premiere Pro 2025 or newer).
  • Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop — running while you install, so the plugin can register. You almost certainly already have it.
  • An AI provider — but nothing to install. Verbatim Cloud is included with every license — hosted AI, no keys, no setup. Prefer your own? Bring a Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini API key, or run Ollama 100% locally. You pick inside the plugin during setup — there's nothing to configure on this page.

No Terminal, no Node.js, no developer tools. The Verbatim Helper bundles everything it needs. If you followed an older guide that mentioned npm or the UXP Developer Tool — you can skip all of that now.

Step 1

Download the Verbatim Helper

When you buy Verbatim — or start a free trial — Lemon Squeezy emails you a receipt. That email has two things: your license key and a download link.

Open the receipt email and download Verbatim-Helper-1.4.0.dmg. Keep the email handy — you'll paste the license key in Step 3.

Can't find the email? Check spam, and search your inbox for lemonsqueezy.com. Still nothing? Email support@cinelore.app.

Step 2

Install it

  1. Double-click Verbatim-Helper-1.4.0.dmg to open it.
  2. Drag Verbatim Helper onto the Applications folder in the window that appears.
  3. Quit Premiere if it's open, and make sure Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop is running.
  4. Open Verbatim Helper from your Applications folder. It's notarized by Apple, so it opens with a normal double-click — no right-click needed.
  5. The first time it opens, Adobe shows a dialog asking to install the Verbatim plugin — click Install. That's the only click.

A small Verbatim icon appears in your menu bar — that's the helper running quietly in the background. It starts automatically with your Mac and only wakes up when Premiere is open. Leave it be.

Installing manually (advanced / if Adobe's dialog never appears)

If Adobe's install dialog doesn't appear, you can load the plugin yourself with the Adobe UXP Developer Tool:

  1. Install the UXP Developer Tool from the Creative Cloud Desktop app.
  2. In Finder, right-click Verbatim Helper in Applications → Show Package ContentsContents/Resources/Verbatim.ccx.
  3. In UXP Developer Tool → Add PluginAdd Existing Package → choose that Verbatim.ccx, then •••Load.

Still stuck? Email support@cinelore.app.

Step 3

Open Verbatim & enter your license key

  1. Open Premiere → Window → Extensions → Verbatim.
  2. The first time, you'll see a Welcome to Verbatim page asking for a license key.
  3. Copy the license key from your Lemon Squeezy receipt email, paste it into the I have a license key field, and click Activate.

Don't have a key yet?

  1. Click Get a trial key → on the Welcome page — it opens cinelore.app/pricing.
  2. Start the free 14-day trial. No card required.
  3. Wait for the Lemon Squeezy email (usually under a minute), copy the key, come back to the panel, paste it.

Heads-up: the key is tied to this machine. Moving to a new Mac? Open Settings (the icon) → Sign out to free your activation, then activate on the other machine — or email support@cinelore.app and we'll move it for you.

Step 4

Pick your AI provider

After your license activates, the wizard shows the AI-provider chooser. Verbatim Cloud is the default and is included with your license — pick it and you're done, no keys to paste. If you'd rather use your own AI, choose Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini (paste an API key) or Ollama (runs locally). The wizard runs a quick Test Connection before moving on.

Where your AI key lives: if you paste an API key, Verbatim stores it encrypted on your Mac — the same OS-managed storage Mail.app and Safari use for saved passwords. It's never written to a config file in plaintext. macOS may ask permission the first time — click Always Allow.

Step 5

Use it

  • Input view: select clips in Premiere → click USE SELECTION → search and edit transcripts.
  • Output view: switch Premiere to your selects sequence → click SET AS OUTPUT → drag cards to reorder, right-click words to split, click [ del ] to delete.
  • Selecting a clip in the Premiere timeline highlights the matching card in the panel and scrolls to it.

License management

Open Settings (the icon in the panel header) to see your license details and manage your seat.

  • Re-check — forces a fresh check against Lemon Squeezy. Useful right after upgrading from trial to paid so the status refreshes immediately.
  • Change key — paste a different license key. The new key has to activate successfully before the old one is replaced; if activation fails, your previous key still works.
  • Sign out — frees this machine's activation so you can re-activate on another Mac. Reversible; your cached transcripts stay on disk.

During your 14-day trial: the panel shows days remaining; near the end it surfaces a Buy Verbatim — $79 button. You can paste a paid key any time, before or after the trial ends.

Privacy & data

  • Your footage never leaves your drive. Verbatim reads it from your Premiere project; nothing uploads to any cloud.
  • Your transcripts stay local. They're cached on your Mac, encrypted.
  • Your API keys and license key live encrypted on your Mac. Verbatim never writes them to a config file in plaintext.
  • The only data we receive is anonymous license-validation pings (does your key still exist + is your trial active). No transcript content, no clip names, no file paths.

Troubleshooting

Adobe's install dialog never appeared

Make sure Creative Cloud Desktop is running, then quit and reopen Verbatim Helper from Applications — it offers the install again on each launch. Still nothing? Use the manual install steps under Step 2.

Verbatim doesn't appear in Window → Extensions

Quit and reopen Premiere. If it's still missing, confirm Creative Cloud Desktop is running and reopen Verbatim Helper — it reinstalls the plugin on launch.

"AI Find" or chapters return errors

Check the Verbatim icon in your menu bar is present. If it's not, open Verbatim Helper from Applications. If you're on a bring-your-own provider, re-check its API key in Settings.

Setup wizard's Test Connection fails

Verbatim Cloud needs no setup — if Cloud fails, check your internet. For a bring-your-own provider, double-check the API key and run Test again.

License activation fails with "license_key not found"

Double-check the key for typos. It comes from your Lemon Squeezy receipt email — search your inbox for lemonsqueezy.com. If still failing, email support@cinelore.app.

Trial banner says "expired" but I just bought

Open Settings () → Re-check. If it's still wrong, quit and reopen Verbatim Helper from the menu bar, then reload the panel.

"License invalid" banner appears unexpectedly

Email support@cinelore.app with your license key. Could be a revocation, a server hiccup, or a real bug.

Reporting bugs

If anything breaks:

  1. Click the icon in the panel header.
  2. Optionally type what you were trying to do.
  3. Click Generate report — you'll see a block of diagnostic text.
  4. Click Send to developer.

The report includes the last 200 console messages and a snapshot of plugin state (counts and flags). It does not include any transcript content, clip names, or file paths — feel free to read it before sending if you want to confirm.

Getting help

  • Support email: support@cinelore.app — first response within one business day during launch period.
  • Bug reports: the in-app icon → Generate report → Send.
  • Feature requests / general feedback: cinelore.app/contact.
